Through songs, movement and instruments, we explore singing, rhythm, listening and improvisation. We also take the very first steps towards understanding music.
Having fun always comes first during our lessons. Children are encouraged to be themselves, use their imagination and experience the joy of music with their whole body.

What do we do during toddler and junior kids music classes?
During our toddler and junior kids music classes, children are introduced to the basics of music in a playful way. Every lesson is varied and encourages children to participate, explore and, above all, have fun. By moving a lot, children experience music not only with their ears but with their whole body. This helps rhythms and melodies become familiar naturally.
The toddler and junior kids music programme consists of 10 weekly lessons, held every Saturday. There are two groups: a toddler group and a junior group.
During the lessons we will be working on:
- Singing and making music together
- Discovering and feeling rhythm
- Listening to sounds and melodies
- Moving to music
- Getting to know different instruments
- Improvising and exploring music creatively
- Taking the first steps towards understanding music through fun games
Who teaches the toddler and junior kids music classes?
The toddler and junior kids music classes are taught by Sterne Pappie, an enthusiastic music teacher with a great passion for music and working with children.
Sterne joined Nieuw Vocaal Amsterdam at the age of eight, where her love for singing began. This passion led her to study Music Education in Leiden. Since early 2025, she has been teaching solfège, music theory and choir classes to children with great enthusiasm, and regularly teaches through the Leerorkest in Amsterdam.

Through songs, games and instruments, children playfully explore rhythm, singing, listening, improvisation and the first steps towards reading music.”
Who are the toddler and kids music classes for?
Our toddler and junior kids music classes are designed for children aged 2 to 7. In a safe and relaxed environment, children discover the world of music through play. Every child is given the space to participate, grow and, above all, have fun at their own pace.
By working with small groups, we can offer plenty of personal attention. During the lessons, children not only develop their musical skills, but also their self-confidence, creativity and social skills. Singing, moving and making music together is fun while helping children develop through play.
