SILVIA MANCUSO
Music Teacher
Piano
My name is Silvia Mancuso. I was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, lived in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and since 1978, I have been living in Amsterdam. I started playing the piano at the age of 4 and completed my classical piano studies in the Netherlands. A few years after graduating, I began taking singing lessons.
Since 1996, I have worked with various ensembles, primarily focusing on South American repertoire as a singer, pianist, and arranger. For over 30 years, I have been teaching piano and music to both children and adults with great joy. Over the years, my musical knowledge has expanded, and I see teaching as a celebration where we learn from each other. Playing during lessons is something I value because it makes the path to making music more accessible.
The piano can be a large, complex, and intricate instrument, but it can also be easy, fun, and approachable. Patience is important, but having fun is even more so. The moment we discover that we can play a song feels like a small miracle. For me, the challenge is to inspire and motivate my students, while for the students (and perhaps their parents), it’s about persistence. Together, we achieve what we aim for: nothing less than making music.
I hope to see you soon at Muziekcentrum Logblock, the most fun music school in Amstelveen!
Best regards,
Silvia
