Dirk Balthaus is an experienced teacher with a deep passion for music. He started playing piano at the age of 6. At 16, he discovered jazz and began playing in bands. In 1991, he graduated from the Conservatory of Hilversum. His debut album, “Tales of the Frog,” with the Balthaus/Lochs 4-tet, was released in 1995, followed by approximately 40 CD productions to date, both as a solo artist and as an accompanist. He is a permanent member of Joan Reinders’ Millennium Jazz Orchestra, one of the leading big bands in the country. Current projects include Braskiri, Sietske & Band, and the Eduardo Blanco International Quartet.
