When I was 8 years old, I received a small toy keyboard for Christmas. I quickly started figuring out songs on it, and as soon as I began piano lessons, I was hooked.

During high school, I followed the preparatory program at the Conservatory of The Hague, where I majored in classical piano and composition. Eventually, I became more interested in pop music and studied keyboards at the pop department of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, combining it with guitar during the first two years. There, I was trained to play all styles of pop music, from pop, RnB, and reggae to rock and metal. These days, alongside teaching, I am a keyboardist, guitarist, write and produce my own music, and actively play in bands.

In my piano lessons, the student is always the focus. Alongside the general basics of piano playing, I emphasize what my students are passionate about learning. If there’s a strong interest in pop music, for example, we’ll dive into the songs the student loves listening to or playing, or we’ll work on popular tracks currently on the radio. We can also focus more on classical music, songwriting, or a combination of everything. Enjoying the piano is my top priority!

I hope to see you soon at Muziekcentrum Logblock, the most fun music school in Amstelveen!

Cheers,
Max
